Detective: Man gave girls pot, booze

OKEECHOBEE — An Okeechobee man is being held on bond in the county jail following his arrest for allegedly giving alcohol and marijuana to two teenage girls.

Detective Bill Saum, of the Okeechobee City Police Department (OCPD), stated in his arrest report that one of the girls was 13 years of age while the other was 14.

He then arrested Jeremiah Nathan Bockoras, 34, S.W. 14th Court, on felony charges of delivery of marijuana to a minor (two counts) and child abuse (two counts). He is also charged with two misdemeanor counts of giving alcohol to a person under 21 years of age.

Bockoras is being held in the Okeechobee County Jail on a bond of $120,000.

According to Detective Saum’s arrest report Bockoras gave the 14-year-old girl a bottle of Benchmark whiskey, and the 13-year-old two, 24-ounce bottles of Smirnoff malt beverage.

He also gave the girls marijuana and smoked it with them, added the detective.

The detective went on to state when he searched the man’s home he found the whiskey bottle and took it as evidence.

Detective Saum said his investigation into this incident is continuing.

Arraignment for Bockoras has been set for Nov. 10 at 10:30 a.m.
