1 dead, 1 injured in suspected shooting

OKEECHOBEE — Investigators are searching for a motive in a Thursday afternoon shooting on N.E. 14th Avenue.

Michele Bell, public information officer with the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO), said late Thursday afternoon that one person had died of unknown injuries and a woman was being treated at Raulerson Hospital.

The alleged shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m.

She said even investigators have one male subject they wanted to talk to, but had no one in custody. Also, no weapon has been found.

The lead investigator on the case is Detective Mark Shireman.
