OKEECHOBEE — A local woman was arrested after she became angry and allegedly threatened to kill a man because of the way he mowed her mother’s yard.
Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) Deputy Brant Harden stated in his report that Thursday afternoon’s incident at Racetrac Petroleum, 1596 S.R. 70 E., was witnessed by three different people. All of them, continued the report, detailed how Keairia Jasha Mehide yelled and cursed at the victim and nearly ran over him with her car.
Mehide, 23, S.E. 38th Ave., was later arrested and booked into the Okeechobee County Jail on a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Her bond was set at $2,500.
Jail records indicate she has been released on bond.
Deputy Harden’s report stated the woman was “… yelling and cursing …” at the man. At one point he started to walk away, but she reportedly tried to hit him with her car.
Then, as the man was walking to his vehicle, Mehide apparently drove up to him again, got out of her car and started yelling at him again.
According to a statement by the store’s manager she heard the pair yelling at each other and reportedly heard “… the female saying she would kill the male for what he did to her mother.”
The manager, stated the deputy’s report, told the pair needed to calm down.
But Mehide, continued the report, revved up the engine of her vehicle and nearly hit the victim as she drove off.
A store clerk and a customer gave basically the same description of the events.
