OKEECHOBEE — A woman apparently escaped serious injury after she was accidentally run over by a vehicle being driven by her husband.
According to a report by Deputy Matt Crawford, of the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO), the woman sustained injuries to her midsection and was taken to the Raulerson Hospital emergency room.
Deputy Crawford’s report indicates the man and wife were arguing around 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12. The husband reportedly got into his vehicle and started to leave the home. At that point, his wife “… jumped on the driver’s door,” and then apparently fell under the vehicle.
The report does not indicate the type of vehicle being driven by the woman’s spouse.
A witness said the man immediately stopped the vehicle to check on his wife.
The deputy’s report stated the front bumper was slightly damaged on the driver’s side.
Deputy Crawford also stated the woman was up and walking around when he arrived at the home, and that she was complaining “… about chest and groin pain and showed marks consistent with previous statements.”
When interviewed by the deputy, the woman “… stressed the fact that it was an accident,” added the report.
No one was charged in the incident.
