OKEECHOBEE — An Okeechobee man escaped serious injury Wednesday morning when his pickup truck was involved in a crash with a tractor-trailer rig.
Deputy Jolly said the morning was “very foggy” at the time of the incident, and that played a big part in the crash.
Neither Bradley Rathbun, 21, of Okeechobee, or Luis Miranda, 55, of Hialeah, were injured in the crash.
However, the F-250 pickup driven by Mr. Rathbun was totaled. He managed to escape from the mangled shell of his pickup by crawling out the passenger-side window.
The Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by Mr. Miranda is owned by Bravado Trucking in Hialeah.
Deputy Jolly said no traffic citations were issued and alcohol was not a contributing cause.
Both men declined to be transported to the hospital for treatment.
OCSO dispatch notes indicate the crash held up a school bus from the Okeechobee County school district. The bus was not involved in the crash.
